What a first couple of days!

OK - Thursday afternoon around 3:30pm, we had one of the fiercest wind,  thunder, rain and lightning storms EVER.  We had a collective 10 ten trees go down.  One came down so close to the house that the top branches with the little tender leaves just swiped the top of the outside lights on the garage.  When we opened the front door, we had a tree on our porch! This was a red oak about 14 inches in diameter and I guess 50 to 60 feet tall.  I was upstairs looking at the storm, looked out the window and watched the tree fall!  Pretty blessed for not having this tree take out the front entry of the house!

Break out the chain saw!

Notice the railroad tie sticking up

After assessing the damage, I called Tam in my office and said, "I don't think we can leave on vacation tomorrow."  She crossed those arms and said, "Oh yea, we're going," and we set off to work.  By 8:30pm we had the limbs and leaves picked up, piled up and the driveway was clear!   One other tree threatened the wood shed I built last year.  It fell and was leaning over top of the shed,  Tammy and I threw a rope over the tree in the upper portions, hooked a chain to it and pulled it off with the tractor - Thanks Neal for the inspiration!

Friday morning rolled around and we awoke stiff and sore from the frenzy of limb pulling, branch cutting and picking up this and that - We finished packing up the TC and left out around 11:15.

Saw some damaged areas (I heard a few chain saws that morning) on the way out Linney's Mill Rd.

Stopped at Cracker Barrel for a late lunch - back on the road and we pulled into Buckeye Lake, Ohio at the KOA.   Just so happened that the national convention of the IBEW was there too. Every spot in the campground was full!  Too many golf carts to count and looks like they were having a good time.

Just passin' through

This morning we are having a short drive to Howell, Michigan and probably will stop along  the way and take in the sights.
